Mali
The state of emergency that was in place in Mali after the terrorist attack at a popular hotel in Bamako that left 20 dead has not been extended.
The state of emergency was declared in Mali for the first time for ten days, following the terrorist attack on the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako, on 20 November 2015, and then on 21 December for another ten days. On 31 December, it was extended until 31 March, and then on 4 April for ten days.
The state of emergency was then extended to July 15th from April 4, to continue the fight against terrorism in the face of attacks from the jihadists.
During this period, dozens of jihadists or suspects have been arrested; weapons seized; criminal projects thwarted and demonstrations prohibited.
But the Malian Government intends to remain vigilant in the fight against terrorism and insecurity.
Despite signing a peace agreement with one of the armed groups that supported Jihadists, Mali’s security is still in question.
Both the Malian and the UN forces have regularly been attacked since the beginning of 2013.
